WE WEREN'T ABLE to go to the reunion cookout last year, but for the second year in a row it rained that weekend and the cookout became a "cook-in" in the barn. It really worked out pretty well, and even though the weather was perfect this year, they decided to set it up again that way. The grills and the picnic tables were arranged in the clearing behind the barn and the food tables were set up inside, away from bugs and the sun. People ate inside or out as they pleased and it was very enjoyable. We set up the volleyball net, and of course there was horseshoes and fishing.
In the evening we had a fire ring down by the lakes, where we toasted marshmallows and S'Mores and tried to tell ghost stories. But there were more little kids this time, and the kinds of stories that are fun for teens are too scary for the small ones. Mostly we just enjoyed the evening and tried to keep the smallest kids from catching fire. In the barn, where the bright lights were, folks were playing cards way into the night.
In addition to all the family members, several folks came who lived in the neighborhood around Chapel Drive when Linda's family lived there. Most of them still do. It made it like having two reunions in one.
Photos this year include several by Linda's aunt Bernice Capman and a couple by Linda's sister Lorraine.
